5 underrated female artists you should be listening to right now!

As promised I’m back with a list of 5 underrated female singers, following the article from last weekend, when I chose 5 male artists. This time, the Teddy bear is helping me.

Why did we choose these artists? According to the originality and their voice. How did we judge their originality? Probably by having as models songs that I’ve heard in the past.

When we hear a new song, in our brains we recognize certain sounds, we assign them a meaning and we complete the information, but, as you know, the beauty of the song lies in its originality.

The songs chosen have in common voices with a timbre out of the ordinary. They are good compositions that approach themes of love, friendship, and life. I consider them to be seductive, fun, exciting or fun because of the sequence of tonal heights, timbre or rhythm.

👍 Ella Eyre

She’s a British singer and songwriter. One of her biggest accomplishments was the collaboration with Rudimental in 2013 for the single “Waiting all night” and the debut of her album in 2015.

She has a Jamaican descent and she originally was a swimmer. She also collaborated with artists like Wiz Khalifa and Tinie Tempah.

👍 Izzy Bizu

She is a British singer of Ethiopian descent. She released her first EP in 2013. She collaborated with Sam Smith and Rudimental, supporting their UK tours.

Her music is influenced by the music she grew up listening to, like Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, but she said that her newer models are Amy Winehouse and Adele.

👍 Jess Glynne

Many do not know that she is the voice in the song ” Rather Be”, by Clean Bandits. Most often we pay more attention to the person who released the song and not to the ones who are featured in it . This is also my case . I found it while I was writing this list, then to find that out.

Obviously that the ones living in England are not included in this discussion, considering that Jess Glynne is a British singer and songwriter.

In the past she did what we all want to do, she traveled the world.

Her songs charted many times in the UK and she was also invited to join X-factor as a judge, but she refused the offer.

👍 Nneka

I’ve been listening to Nneka’s music for 6 years and I cannot get enough of her timbre. She has a special technique and her songs are really inspirational.

She has a Nigerian descent, she’s a singer, songwriter and her genres are soul, R&B, and reggae. Her career started in 2003 and she collaborated with many artists including Sean Paul and Ziggy Marley. Her single “Hearbeat” was remixed by Chase & Status and Rita Ora.

She often sings about poverty, war, and capitalism.

👍 Selah Sue

She is another singer that I’ve fallen in love with about 6 years ago, with the release of her first single ” Raggamufin”. This song might sound familiar to you, like Crazy Vibes and This World.

She is a Belgian singer and songwriter, she is not associated with any record company and she made a duet with Cee Lo Green for a song called Please.

Her success was great in the early years after her debut, but recently, her songs have not reached as many listeners.

This is one of the latest songs released by her. Listen and be patient until the chorus, believe me, you’ll be amazed by her voice.
